About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Slippery Rock University. I am a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). I provide individual and family therapy to adolescents (14+) and adults struggling with a wide range of difficulties including, PTSD, trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, adjustment reactions, life changes, grief and loss, relationship issues, behavior disorders, anger management issues, mood disorders, codependency, sexuality and gender issues, bipolar and other personality disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, social dysfunction, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation and self-injury, sexual abuse prevention, and family dysfunction. Primary treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, Supportive Psychotherapy and Trauma Focused Therapy. I provide guided relaxation sessions for clients as needed.

I have been working in the mental health field since 1996.  I have worked in a variety of settings including adolescent residential treatment facility, independent living group home for adults, partial hospitalization, outpatient services, behavioral health rehabilitation services (wraparound, mobile therapist, behavioral specialist consultant), a university student counseling center and in school counseling services. I previously worked as the Clinical Supervisor for a residential treatment facility and was involved in several projects including creating female responsive services, implementing the Sanctuary Model, a trauma informed care model, and providing more efficient trainings to the staff.

I am certified in Rational Emotive Behavior Theory and Techniques through the Albert Ellis Institute.  I am a certified facilitator of the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment Curriculum and a certified trainer of the curriculum for facilitators through the PA Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Project.

I believe that developing a meaningful relationship between the client and therapist is crucial for success. I love to empower my clients to work towards their goals. Hearing their success brings me joy. I believe that having a well rounded lifestyle is important to achieving a happy life. Having effective coping skills, getting regular exercise, eating a healthy balanced diet, maintaining positive social supports and feeling a sense of purpose in life are so important for mental health.

I bring energy and passion not only to my professional life, but also to my personal life.  I am the mother twins who are now thriving adults. I have several hobbies and interests that keep me active so I do practice a well-rounded lifestyle to back up my philosophy in therapy.
